Aap ki seva mein AAP ki sarkar

There was a movie called Nayak - The real hero many moons ago. It was a remake of a South Indian film about a common man who is made chief minister for a day. It was - in the true South Indian cinematic sense - dramatic and starred Anil Kapoor in the title role.

When I watched this film for the first time, I remember thinking - AS IF! Aise thodi hota hai?
But I loved it for how idealistic it was. It was nice to think maybe, just maybe, there will be an end to stereotypical politicians, that a hero will rise and change the chalta hai attitude and actually say nahi chalega, badlo ise. Or better yet, hum badlenge ise - which is everything the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) stands for.



 As Arvind Kejriwal swore in as Chief Minister (CM) of Delhi today, I felt goosebumps on my skin.
What a struggle! And what an overwhelming result!

His first speech as CM was liberating, reassuring and had one overarching message - we are the Aam Aadmi Party and we are here to help you.

I must confess, I had no hope or expectations from him or AAP but with their performance, they have shut pessimists like me up. And I must say I'm happy to be gagged by brilliant performers like them.

How much, of what the new-party-on-the-block has promised, will be fulfilled is yet to be seen. But I wish them the best for sure.

New hope at the end of an eventful year is just what we all needed to ring in the new year.

Man of Steel: Superman reinvented

Superman is my favorite superhero. And I can't say I've been happy with the way he's been depicted in the movies made till date. I mean cocky with a wry sense of humor is great, and works really well with the ladies too, but somewhere down the line I believe Superman stopped being taken seriously. Could be because of that glued hairstyle with just one curl on the forehead (which not once fell out of place, no matter how much he flew around the stratosphere) or the famous red briefs over the blue suit. The Jungle Book

This was like revisiting childhood. Only with better graphics and 3D animation. In my mind, nothing can replace the old cartoon version, but Jon Favreau's version is something to be experienced. When the film was released with a U/A rating, I wondered who the fool was to have made such a decision...until I watched the movie. The visual effects are so amazing that some parts are hair-raising! And I mean it in its truest sense. All actors have done a splendid job of lending their voices to the characters and bringing them alive on screen, quite literally. And young Mowgli played by Neel Sethi is endearing. I did miss the vultures and Colonel Haathi, though. :) I loved every bit of The Jungle Book , savored every character, felt their fear and mourned their loss. Everything except one niggling factor - diction. So this is a story set in India, with characters that have Indian names - then why pronounce them incorrectly?
