Poetry is in the air

I'm feeling rather poetic these days.
For those of you who missed the first one of the season, here it is - my ode to India and more specifically the former state of Andhra Pradesh.
I was truly torn by the incident.

Having said that, I moved on from the sombre state of mind to a slightly more lighter tone with this limerick I jotted down in what I'd call a "burst of creativity".

It was an informal dedication to a person I didn't know too well.
But despite that I thought I did pretty well (so much for modesty) :P

In our time of need, you always paid heed.
We can't thank you enough for all your deeds.

We look up to you for inspiration anew.
You will always be what we call the coolest new-age guru!

Read with with the swagger of a rapper.
I ended up singing it in the Eminem (think Slim Shady) kind of way.

This is a fresh out of the oven type thing. The film hasn't even finished running credits as I write this piece. That's how compelled I felt to write about this movie. There's so much to be said and yet so little that was. I'm truly astounded by Ben Stiller's take on something so mundane as a closet-hero seeking something more from his life. Man of Steel: Superman reinvented

Superman is my favorite superhero. And I can't say I've been happy with the way he's been depicted in the movies made till date. I mean cocky with a wry sense of humor is great, and works really well with the ladies too, but somewhere down the line I believe Superman stopped being taken seriously. Could be because of that glued hairstyle with just one curl on the forehead (which not once fell out of place, no matter how much he flew around the stratosphere) or the famous red briefs over the blue suit. And I don't think it has anything to do with the new face of Superman - Henry Cavill (drool!) - or his elaborate background story. The Jungle Book

This was like revisiting childhood. Only with better graphics and 3D animation. In my mind, nothing can replace the old cartoon version, but Jon Favreau's version is something to be experienced. When the film was released with a U/A rating, I wondered who the fool was to have made such a decision...until I watched the movie. The visual effects are so amazing that some parts are hair-raising! And I mean it in its truest sense. All actors have done a splendid job of lending their voices to the characters and bringing them alive on screen, quite literally. And young Mowgli played by Neel Sethi is endearing. I did miss the vultures and Colonel Haathi, though. :) I loved every bit of The Jungle Book , savored every character, felt their fear and mourned their loss. Everything except one niggling factor - diction. So this is a story set in India, with characters that have Indian names - then why pronounce them incorrectly?
