March: the month of more...
Well there's a lot that transpired through the month of March.
There was a book and a couple of movies that left quite an impression, to say the least.
A mobile app I cannot draw my attention away from and of course mangoes and soothing drinks that have announced the arrival of summer in full swing.
That explains my brief absence from the blogosphere.
Getting straight to the point, I'll begin with the book - The Oath of the Vayuputras by Amish
I am great fan of author Amish's story-telling technique. He is generally precise and to-the-point with his narrative. Good, brief descriptions and explanations and a seamless blending of facts with fiction. But with this book, I thought something, somewhere was amiss. It's a good read, no doubt, but the pace and intensity were lost somewhere. Not as sharp as the first two books - The immortals of Meluha and The secret of the Nagas. The former being my personal favorite.
I'd say, in the war between Good and Evil - Evil was not evil enough to give Good a stiff competition. The book has a promising beginning but the end... I'll leave it up to individual decision.
My recommendation: A good read for those who have been following this series and others who enjoy this genre.
Movies: Special 26 and Talaash
I know it's been a while since these movies released. But I happened to watch them recently, so here's my quick review. I promise to keep it short.
Both movies were impactful, intense and keep you at the edge of your seat all through.
Since Special 26 was a dated film, the makers have done a good job of creating Mumbai, Delhi and Chandigarh of the 80s. The story is well told and characters well sketched. The twist is something you feel you should've foreseen. To those who called the plot - well done. I didn't, so my kudos to the director and producers.
Talaash was so intense, I needed to sleep off the the effect it had on me.
Excellent story-telling. And to those who thought the ending wasn't satisfactory, I disagree. I believe that you feel a sense of closure with respect to every character in the film. And that for me is the perfect end to a film.
My recommendation: Both films are a must-watch, from a purely cinematic stand point. They're both very different from each other, but thrilling nonetheless.
Mobile app - Scramble by Zynga
I'm getting late, there are a few games waiting on me.
Check it out to know what it's all about. All I'll say is that it's exciting! :-)
My recommendation: Get it!
P.S. - next post will be shorter
